About TUSHY

TUSHY is a bidet brand on a mission to change a habit most people didn’t know they wanted to change. Known for design-forward bidets that attach to any toilet in minutes and a famously humorous brand voice, TUSHY now has more than 3 million units in homes and a growing range of bathroom and gut-health products.

As a brand selling a long-lasting, considered purchase across DTC, Amazon and retail, its challenge is keeping customers connected long after installing their first TUSHY bidet.

The Challenge

TUSHY never struggled to get customers to love their product. The challenge was turning that love and advocacy into repeatable, consistent growth. Some of the challenges TUSHY was running up against previously:

  • Word-of-mouth without a digital footprint. Customers recommended TUSHY for their friends’ homes and gave them as gifts, but TUSHY lacked tracking and visibility.
  • A one-and-done product. A bidet lasts for years, so a points-forward loyalty program had little trajectory.
  • Discounts cheapened the brand. Blanket promo codes ate margin without driving conversion. Consumer education actually drove growth.

The Solution

TUSHY’s community existed long before its loyalty program. Using Okendo Loyalty, TUSHY launched The Spray Society to reward their Superfans and to scale that level of advocacy to their broader base of shoppers.

  • Referrals first: Friends get 10% off their first order and referrers earn $40 in points, enough to tip a friend over on a considered purchase.
  • Rewards beyond spending: Members earn points for birthdays, TUSHY anniversaries, social follows, subscriptions, and more. A QR code on every box brings Amazon and retail buyers into the community as well.
  • Built to protect margin: Four VIP tiers reward top fans with faster earning, early access and beta testing. Redemptions are capped at $40 per order, and the program is now the only place to get a discount.
  • A vehicle for catalog discovery: Many customers didn’t know TUSHY sold more than bidets. Loyalty emails and points reminders surface new launches, accessories (like candles and bamboo toilet paper), and replacement parts, giving members a reason to come back between big purchases.

The Results

  • 3.5x more likely to make a repeat purchase for Spray Society members vs. non-members
  • 26% higher AOV for referred customers vs. non-referred ($178 vs. $141)

Key Takeaways

  • Loyalty works for low-frequency products when it rewards referrals, not just repeat spend
  • Formalizing the word-of-mouth you already have beats inventing new behaviors to reward
  • Routing all discounts through the program protects both margin and brand positioning
  • A simple program with one prime behavior outperforms a gamified one with 20 actions

“Discounting was a race to the bottom, so we stopped. Now that money goes into what customers actually value: a loyalty program that’s genuinely worth joining.”
