6 Podcasts to Help Grow Your eCommerce Business

Podcasts are a great way to educate yourself about important developments in the eCommerce industry.

As well as keeping you informed about the latest trends and topics, they can help you stay competitive and give you a little insight into what the competition might be up to.

As a business owner, your time is precious. The beauty of the podcast is that you can transform your commute, workout or bedtime routine into an opportunity to learn and improve your business.

Of course, you’ll want to make sure you’re investing your time in the best and most insightful podcasts! So here’s our pick of six eCommerce podcasts that will help give you that edge.

1. eCommerce Fastlane

The eCommerce Fastlane site has long been recognized as a solid resource for budding Shopify entrepreneurs looking to build, launch, grow and scale their businesses.

Hosted by Steve Hutt, currently a member of the Shopify Plus merchant success team, this popular podcast has racked up over 100 episodes so far.

Now in its third season, the show talks to Shopify partners and experts to learn more about their experience working with the popular eCommerce platform. You can expect to hear the latest marketing strategies, tactics, platform comparisons, apps recommendations and more.

And if you don’t have time to enjoy a whole episode, it’s worth checking out the detailed show notes that break down the content and link out to resources.

2. Wavebreak

The Wavebreak podcast has one very clear focus — growth! If you’re looking to scale your Shopify business and have your sights set on eight figures and beyond, this is the aspirational listening you’ve been looking for.

Episodes are generally around 45 minutes long, and the time flies with a friendly, chatty format.

Hosted by Dylan Kelley, founder of Wavebreak, the podcast interviews entrepreneurs behind the world’s leading eCommerce brands. By telling their stories and sharing the tips and tricks that worked for them along the way, listeners can get helpful insight into the reality of what success might look and feel like for their own enterprises.

And if you don’t have time to enjoy a whole episode, it’s worth checking out the detailed show notes that break down the content and link out to resources.

3. Shopify Masters

Shopify Masters is the first official podcast on our list – produced and published every Tuesday by the good folk at the Shopify mothership!

Production values are high, as you’d expect. It’s great to see that full transcripts are also available for those who need or prefer to consume this valuable content in another format.

Hosted by Felix Thea, the show interviews a diverse range of entrepreneurs who have enjoyed success on the Shopify platform.

There’s quite a strong focus on marketing, so if you’re looking to drive more traffic towards your store, you can expect plenty of tips for creating strong promotional content, leveraging Shopify’s in-house marketing features and more.

If you’re looking for ideas that you can take away and put into practice rapidly, this is a great place to start.

4. In Conversation with Shopify Plus

A relative newcomer to the scene, it was great to see Shopify Plus launching their own in-house podcast in the second half of 2020.

The In Conversation podcast doesn’t put out content as regularly as its Shopify Masters counterpart, but when a new episode drops, it’s well worth checking out.

Episodes to date have featured some real power players of the enterprise-grade eCommerce scene — from Tim Brown, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Allbirds through to Chip Wilson, Founder of Lululemon.

5. The Unofficial Shopify Podcast

Hosted by Shopify scene stalwart Kurt Elster (founder of Ethercycle), the Unofficial Shopify Podcast offers up “no holds barred discussion of ecommerce growth strategy & tactics.”

Kurt has a great interview manner and really knows how to get the best of his guests. The show is easy, humorous and frequently very revealing.

Recent episodes have focused on common CRO blindspots, Black Friday data, Shopify theme customization and more.

As topics quite loosely focus on different aspects of the Shopify scene (and, to a certain extent, eCommerce more broadly) there’s plenty to dig into in the archives.

6. MindfulCommerce

Looking to run your eCommerce business more sustainably? The MindfulCommerce podcast can help!

With a special focus on how eCommerce retailers and service providers alike can lessen their impact on the planet, you can expect interviews with sustainability consultants, eco developers, ethical brands and more.

This is a hot topic that’s only set to get hotter. And with the rise of conscious consumerism, getting educated about the steps you can take here will benefit your bottom line, as well as the planet.

The podcast is hosted by Krissie Leyland of MindfulCommerce, an online collective of conscious brands, merchants and experts working together to help you grow your business and make it more sustainable too.

Conclusion

Now it’s time to put your ears to the test. The Shopify App Store offers a variety of solutions, take some of the marketing strategies learned from these podcasts and apply them directly to your online store!

When selecting a Shopify App to help power your business, it’s important to consider one that integrates seamlessly with others. Okendo allows you to get the most out of your customer reviews solution with integrations including Google, Facebook, Instagram, Klaviyo, and many more!
